School and Nursery Photography

This little addition to the services provided by John Rose Photography is now underway. It may be some months before we will be able to call ourselves schools' photographers though. Letters have been sent to some of the more local schools advising them of our services and now we await their response

I have researched the industry in length and I am an associate member of School Photo Pro - The Association for Professional School Photographers. Here are a few images taken while experimenting with different set-ups with my portable studio.

Jude and Andy

The love between this couple was so deep they just couldn't keep their eyes off each other.
It was a civil ceremony which took place on the 5th September at the Grasmere House Hotel in Salisbury. The hotel is on the edge of the River Avon and has lovely views of the Cathedral.
The weather could have been better but just before I left the weather cleared just enough to allow for a couple of images with the Cathedral in the background.

Old News

This post is the first of many on my new blog page. I have included the text from my old news page here for you to be able to catch up with what has happened at John Rose Photography since July of this year. Use the FOLLOW THIS BLOG button to keep up to date with new items.

21st September 2008
I am launching a new venture in the coming months; this new venture will be school portraits. I have been asked in the past if I undertake school class photos and have indeed done a couple of one-offs for local schools. If you would like more details then please contact me using the contact page and I will be pleased to discuss your requirements. I will be adding a page to my website soon which will detail the services to be offered and the format they will take, so please come back soon.

26th August 2008
In my post of the 1st July 2008 I told you all about my wish to "become a "fully qualified" (letters after my name) member of the photographic community". Well I have done it; I am now John Rose LBPPA (Licentiate of the British Professional Photographers Associates). My submission was accepted and you will be able to view it at my exhibition early next year; details to be confirmed. This is one of the images from my sumission.

14th August 2008
Well the day has arrived and I have my A-level result; I have a "B". I am reasonbly happy with it, an "A" would have been better, but as this is my first year I have something to aspire to in my second year; which I have now signed up for.
I completed my pre-wedding portrait shoot on Monday. The bride-to-be was not very confident in front of the camera but once she had relaxed we got a few good images; I now have the wedding to look forward to.
A very short post this time but come back soon to see how the wedding went.

5th August 2008
Just back from a few "sunny" days in a tent in Devon, near Exmouth. The weather was interesting (3 days of sunburn followed by several days of trenchfoot), but the family and I enjoyed the break; although it was a challenge for my boys to be away from the computer and TV (don't tell my wife but I checked my emails daily from my phone).
I took my last professional visit to Salisbury Races on the 12th July to photograph "Ladies Evening" for my proposed exhibition next year, and on the 17th July I had a very exiting trip to London to meet with the CEO of the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) and a few other members to discuss a charity fundraiser we are putting together with SWPP members from all over the country which we hope will raise vast amounts of money for charity (more detailed information will follow in the coming months which will tell you how you can get involved).
The sporting themes have continued since my last entry. I covered a football game between Andover FC and a Salisbury FC XI for Andover FC, which marked their 125th Anniversary and I had a great time at Farley Nursery sports day just before I left for my family break and will be busy filling the orders for both of these events in the next week or so.
WHATS NEXT: I have a pre-wedding portrait shoot with a couple on Monday who have booked me to cover their wedding on the 5th September (I always include a free 1 hour portrait shoot with couples who have booked me for their wedding as it gives us time to discuss their likes and dislikes and also time to get to know each other before the big day); I hope the weather improves. I will also be framing a few images for Danebury Grasstrack Club; I took at one of their meetings and they want them for a couple of events they are attending in August and September, and I will be getting things organised for their next meeting which is on the weekend of the 11th and 12th October where I will be shooting the action and I also hope to have a stand.
Thats it for now, thank you for visiting the John Rose Photography news page. Please take time to look around the rest of the site, and remember if you don't see what you want please use the contact page to ask.

1st July 2008
This is my very first entry onto this news page which will be updated regularly with events in the life and times of John Rose Photography. This entry will serve to bring you all up to date on what has happened to date.
John Rose Photography was formed about two years ago, although I have been undertaking photographic assignments for some years now. In 2004 I had an image published as a set of cards by a retail group; in 2005 one of my images was used as an illustration in a book by Rod Green, published by Octopus Publishing Group Limited, called BEACH HUTS; and other images have been used in consumer magazines and national and local newspapers.
The last year has seen me start and finish the first year of my A-level Photography; I am now eagerly awaiting the results which should be through in August. I will be signing up for year 2 as soon as the college releases its course booklet. In my quest to become a "fully qualified" (letters after my name) member of the photographic community and prove my ability to one and all, I am also currently providing evidence for my Licentiate of the British Professioinal Photographers Associate.
Recently I have been busy photographing school sports teams, several school sports days, end of term plays and dinners, I have a few more bookings to fulfill before I am able to look forward to my summer break with my family.
I am currently putting together an exhibition for early next year in the Salisbury area (venue to be confirmed) which will be entitled "A Day at the Races" and will show people and events surrounding a day at the races; please keep visiting this site for further details as the unfold.
I think that is about it for now, I hope you have enjoyed reading my first entry news story and will visit again in the coming weeks and months to see what is happening in the world of John Rose Photography.
