Family Portrait

I enjoyed this family portrait session. Kelly wanted some pictures of her partner and his daughter as a present. We had arranged to do it at Danebury Hill Fort just outside Andover and were praying for the weather to be kind. Well the day came and the weather was indeed kind, albiet very cold. It was a beautiful day with the sun peeping through occasionally.

We walked around the hill fort and I just snapped away while they were walking and talking; just how I like to do portrait sessions. A big thank you to Kelly for choosing me to do this family portrait and for choosing such a great location.

Family Portrait

Rachel wanted some pictures of there six week old baby for Christmas presents. Harry was a lovely little boy but seemed very tired on the day. We manages to keep him awake while we got some shots of him and his parents and of course by the time we had finished he was wide awake
and ready to play.

Family Portrait

Brenda and Ken wanted some family portraits and I was lucky enough to be asked to go to their daughters house to photograph them all.

They are a lovely family and it was a pleasure to meet them all.

Lynn, Russell and Mac

This is quite a sad story. Lynn and Russell have had Mac since he was a puppy. He is a lovely dog, very excitable and very much still a child at heart. Mac is not destined to be on this earth much longer though. He managed to get a grass seed lodged in his lung a while ago which caused an infection. He had an operation and the seed was removed but the damage caused is irreversable and he only has a couple of years to live.
Lynn and Russell wanted a momento to remember him by and I hope I have been able to give them something they will cherish forever.

Winterslow Pre-School

This was my first real shoot after my lighting course and was eager to try out my new lighting techniques. As always the kids were great (and unpredictable) and I had a great time photographing them.

A big thank you to the staff for their help.

Family Portrait

I took a course in studio lighting in November run by Chris Burfoot. It was a two day course and was by far the most informative course I have been on too date. Chris is an excellent tutor who teaches by putting you in the action and letting you make mistakes. All of the shooting was done live with plenty of chances to use our cameras. Chris used a total of five models over the weekend including his grandchildren. Katy, Laura and Kathy were brilliant, Laura and Kathy were a great help as they had modelled for Chris so many times they were able to help with set-ups as well as model; Kathy is also a photographer which made it even more interesting for us.
A big thank you to Chris, Katy, Laura and Kathy for a great weekend.

The images below are of my family who became my guinea pigs when I got home so i could practice what I had learnt.

Fiona's Birthday party

Fiona's "special" birthday party was held at the Nelson Arms in Winterslow on the 8th November. We had a great night photographing the birthday girl and her guests. Thanks to Fiona and Gary, to Russell Rowe (Landlord) and to all the guests for making it a very special evening.

FREE Portrait Session

We will be doing a live shoot at Winterslow Christmas Fair this Saturday the 15th November. We will be setting up our portable studio on the stage in the hall and inviting people to have their photographs taken for FREE.

If you are in the area come along and have a FREE sitting. Canvases, frames and prints will be a vailable to order and will be delivered in time for Christmas.
Wouldn't a framed print or a canvas make an excellent Christmas present. We will be there from 11am to 4pm so take this chance to have a studio portrait done for FREE.

School and Nursery Photography

This little addition to the services provided by John Rose Photography is now underway. It may be some months before we will be able to call ourselves schools' photographers though. Letters have been sent to some of the more local schools advising them of our services and now we await their response

I have researched the industry in length and I am an associate member of School Photo Pro - The Association for Professional School Photographers. Here are a few images taken while experimenting with different set-ups with my portable studio.

Jude and Andy

The love between this couple was so deep they just couldn't keep their eyes off each other.
It was a civil ceremony which took place on the 5th September at the Grasmere House Hotel in Salisbury. The hotel is on the edge of the River Avon and has lovely views of the Cathedral.
The weather could have been better but just before I left the weather cleared just enough to allow for a couple of images with the Cathedral in the background.
